About
The Ciderthon

About

A half marathon and 5K where you sample different ciders along the way! Enjoy multiple tasters along the route – and more at the finish line. Set amidst the beautiful Thames Valley, the Ciderthon is a truly unforgettable experience. With plenty of laughs, festival vibes - and great cider - it’s a party from start to finish!

At the Ciderthon, we believe running and cider aren’t mutually exclusive. Inspired by the legendary Marathon du Médoc in Bordeaux, Ciderthon Founder, Nikki, wanted to bring the same spirit of adventure and indulgence to the UK . And just like that, the Ciderthon was born!

FAQs
  • What can I expect at the cider stops?
Each cider station is transformed into a mini pub experience - complete with live music, food, and a vibrant atmosphere. Picture yourself enjoying a cider while tapping your feet to some tunes or grabbing a bite to fuel your run. There will be a selection of non-alcoholic ciders at each cider station, perfect for those who want the refreshing taste without the buzz. To ensure you stay refreshed and energized throughout your run, water stations will be strategically placed directly after each cider tasting station. Water will be served in eco-friendly cups, handed out by our friendly marshals or available for you to grab off the table.
  • Where can I leave my stuff while I run?
You can check in your bag at the registration tent using the detachable tag on your race number. Please note that bags are left at your own risk, and the organizers are not responsible for any loss or damage.
  • Can I run with my dog?
While the races themselves are not canicross-friendly, we love our furry friends, and dogs are more than welcome in the Ciderthon Village at both the start and finish lines! Please note, however, that dogs must remain on leads at all times to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone involved. We’re excited to have dogs join in the fun, but for the safety of all participants, camping with dogs is not permitted at the event.
  • Am I fit enough to run?
Ciderthon is a half marathon (13.1 miles) or 5km , so proper preparation is essential. If you cannot comfortably run 8 miles a month before the event, we strongly advise against attempting the race for safety reasons. While cider tastings will enhance the experience, they can also make running more challenging. Remember, this is a FUN RUN, not a competitive race - take your time, enjoy the experience, and be mindful of how alcohol may affect your run.
  • Where can I find race day photos?
Event photographers will be capturing moments throughout the course, including at the start and finish line. Photos will be available on our website a few days after the event.
  • This there First Aid on route?
First aid posts will be positioned at multiple locations along the course, and a medical tent will be available in the Cider Village.
  • Are there toilets on route?
Yes toilets will be available along the route and in the Cider Village at the start and finish.
  • What is the cut off time?
There is no official cut off time, however the cider stations on route will close 5 hours 30 minutes after the half marathon start time, any cider tasters that you miss will be waiting for you in the Cider Village once you have finished!
